At the Rose & Crown we know a thing or two about tradition – after all we’ve been around since the 14th Century. So it’s only fitting that our historic hotel in Colchester, one of the UK’s oldest cities, celebrates what is arguably Britain’s most famous foodie tradition – Sunday lunch – aka a roast dinner with all the trimmings.
Sunday roast – a British institution
If you’re a UK resident you’ll be familiar with Sunday lunch all too well. It’s that time of the week when all the family comes together, and dinnertime is brought forward from its usual evening timeslot to mid afternoon.
The centrepiece of the meal is a roast joint of meat (or equivalent vegan/vegetarian alternative) all of which is served with a selection of cooked vegetables, crisp (and fluffy) roast potatoes and lashings of gravy.
Our new two or three course Sunday lunch menu
Sunday lunch has been a fixture of our Rose & Crown Hotel Brasserie menu but we’ve now elevated the Sunday dining experience to dizzying new heights with the introduction of our brand new dedicated Sunday lunch menu.
For a fixed price, starting at just £12.95 for two courses and £15.95 for three, Sunday diners at The Rose & Crown Colchester can now enjoy a hearty Sunday lunch of their choosing, accompanied by a starter and/or desert. Best of all, there’ll be no washing up to contend with at the end either – well, not unless you work in our hotel kitchen.
Along with a choice of Chicken, Pork, roast topside of beef, and a vegetarian option, diners can elect to start their Sunday lunch with a choice of classic starters including prawn cocktail, soup of the day or chicken liver pate. If you still have room for pudding at the end, there’s a selection of hot and cold desserts on offer, including apple crumble, vegan salted caramel brownie and lemon meringue pie.
Ask about our Sunday lunch loyalty club
We’re also proud to be introducing a loyalty scheme, rewarding regular diners who join us for our Sunday roast dinners, so if you’re a Colchester local or frequent hotel visitor, don’t forget to ask your server about our Sunday Lunch Loyalty Club the next time you dine with us.
If you are planning on sampling our new Sunday lunch menu, we highly recommend booking a table due to the popularity of Sunday dining at the Rose & Crown hotel. You can reserve using the “book a table” link on our website here.
