Lunch and dinner is currently unavailable.
Breakfast is served Monday-Friday from 6.30am-9.30am and Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holidays from 7.30am-10.30am
Our Tudor bar may have retained its 14th century charm, but when it comes to enjoying a drink in the present day, our selection definitely isn’t stuck in the past.
With an eclectic range of chilled beers and ales on tap, and wines cherry-picked from around the world. Not to mention an impressive collection of cocktails, premium spirits, liquors and mixers.
Our historic hotel is the perfect place to enjoy a casual drink among friends whatever the time of year. Cosy up with someone special in front of a real log fire when there’s a chill in the air. Or sit outside in our secret garden – the perfect outdoor space on a summer’s day.
Tudor bar
With its welcoming log fire, cosy nooks and crannies, and historic oak beamed walls. Our Tudor bar has been lovingly restored, without compromising any of its original character. Featuring modern fixtures and furnishings, and a great drinks selection. It’s one of our guests’ favourite places to relax and unwind.

Welcome to Colchester’s best kept secret! Perfect for alfresco dining or enjoying a crisp glass of something cold in the glorious sunshine.
From the beautifully manicured lawn, to the stunning olive trees, which make you feel as though you have escaped to the Mediterranean.
Our beer garden is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
