There’s something to be said for a good meal, in fact, very few things in life are as satisfying as a delicious flavour explosion that sets your taste buds in a tailspin!
At The Rose & Crown, that’s exactly the way we want our diners to feel when they eat with us. So our chefs have been busy behind the scenes working up a brand new menu for our hotel bar and restaurant, that draws on some of the UK’s finest ingredients, whilst combining flavours together in both classic and less familiar pairings.
New & improved
This totally revamped menu is now available daily at The Rose & Crown, and we’ve already received some great and glowing reviews from our diners, who have given the new dishes a resounding thumbs up.
Our historic 13th Century Hotel is already famous as being one of Colchester’s oldest buildings and Europe’s oldest purpose built hotel, but with our new menu we want to put our food on the map too, creating a dining experience that matches the grandeur of eating in our centuries old building.
Eat a little or a lot!
The new menu offers the traditional three-course dinner option, alongside smaller dishes and sharing plates, so there’s something to satisfy every appetite – whether you just fancy a quick nibble with your glass of merlot or to celebrate a special occasion with a full sit down dinner.
Highlights of our starter menu include Cajun crab waffles with citrus mayonnaise, seared scallops accompanied by chorizo jam, and the mind-bending jalapeno gazpacho –both cold and fiery hot at the same time.
Save space for dessert
There’s a dedicated salad, pasta, grill and burger menu, while main course options include miso aubergines with giant cous cous and marmalade roast gammon ham. But you might want to save room for dessert, which offers a choice of six sweet options and a savoury cheese board, including a pecan and amaretto tart and mango panna cotta. Both of which taste every bit as good as they sound.
